A brief look at Astral Projection Techniques

When it comes to Astral Projection techniques, there is much confusion.  Confusion even as to what it is and what happens when you achieve it.  When you Astral Project you experience the separation of the physical body and soul.  Once mastered, the practitioner is able to purposefully separate the two and, existing only as their soul or “consciousness”, explore the normal physical world we inhabit, and also visit “higher planes” or realms unknown.

What does this intentional out of body experience allow one to experience? It is very common to hear accounts of people floating near the ceiling in their room, looking down upon their own body.  They also report exploring their normal surroundings, plus worlds they never knew existed.  Time after time people who learn how to Astral Project describe feeling a deep peace and calmness in real life after their first Astral Projection.

The basics of ALL Astral Projection techniques

Before getting into a few of the popular methods for entering Astral Projection, we should talk about the commonalities noted in all the ways you can achieve it.   What’s common to all techniques and incidents is that  your body and soul separate for a time, and during that time you operate completely from the soul side, leaving the body “alive but empty” while you are free from it.

Sadly, the easiest way for the anyone to Astral Project is to nearly die, not only that but the odds for success increase if the near death is from a great trauma! This is why so many who survive near death experiences report out of body experiences upon recovery see here.  This “almost dying” is a method that requires no knowledge, study, prep or work on your part. Easy, but best to avoid!

Astral Projection Techniques

You don't have to be dying to do it!

When considering Astral Projection techniques, the obvious first decision is to find a  method that does not require you to nearly die, and luckily that is very achievable!  Here we will give brief overviews of a couple of the most well known techniques that are frequently mentioned in regards to how to achieve Astral Projection.

One other thing that should be mentioned is that with Astral Projection being an ancient, somewhat obscure “art”, there is at the same time, a great lack of reliable information AND a confusing array of multiple instructions and techniques that seem to all be very different.  This can be somewhat confusing, as the general idea of “Astral Projection” is agreed upon.  It seems the instructions and techniques should be less varied, but remember this is something that can be accomplished by crashing your car just right, so it’s something that people achieve in different ways.

With that out of the way I would like to say that reading the brief summaries of Astral Projection Techniques mentioned here will almost certainly NOT be enough for a person to achieve it.  To confidently undertake the thorough understanding and quick mastery of Astral Projection  we recommend you acquire a quality, competent Astral Projection Guide.

The rope technique for Astral Projection:

The rope technique is one of the best known for achieving Astral Projection.  It is commonly attributed to Robert Bruce, a fellow who was quite involved in the area.

The rope technique is best practice laying down.

Step 1:  Release any stress and tension from you body.

You should as free from stress as possible. Practice progressive relaxation until your body and mind are very relaxed.

Step 2:  Begin to fall asleep.

Begin to allow your physical body to drift towards sleep. Allow your body to get closer and closer to sleep. When you are still awake, but have lost most physical sensation, you’ve reached this stage.

Step 3:  Allow near sleep to close in on you.

Practice absolutely no physical movement, yet deepen your “near sleep” to the point that you begin to see a “darkness” before your eyes.  At this stage you can also begin to see light patterns and maybe even hear strange noise patterns. No worries that’s normal!

Step 4:  Wait for the vibrations to come.

You’ll begin to feel faint vibrations.  Allow these to occur with no fear and maintain the super deep near sleep state you are in. These vibrations take a while to come and to settle in.(note: this is a long stage)

Step 5:  Envision the rope.

Imagine a rope hanging down, suspended from above.  The end of this rope is hanging down right above your face.  The other end is impossible to see, the rope stretches above endlessly. Take some time to really imagine how it will feel in your hand, it’s texture, heft etc.

Step 6: Try to separate one limb.

Very gently attempt to slowly raise one arm up to lightly grab the rope. Feel the weight of it and the texture in your hand.

At this stage, you can reach up with your second hand and grab the rope with it, too.

Step 7:  Attempt full body separation.

If you’ve made it to this stage you can, if you feel confident attempt to “pull your body up” and achieve full body / soul separation for full Astral Projection.

Monroe method for Astral Projection:

This method was invented by Robert Monroe, one of the most famous people associated with Astral Projection in modern times. You’ll see some close similarities between this and the rope technique described above.

Step 1: Relax your body and mind.

Your body and mind should be relaxed and as stress free as possible in this stage.

Step 2: Move towards sleep.

Allow your physical body to move closer and closer to sleep.

Step 3: Enhance the feeling of near sleep.

Drift closer and closer to sleep without actually entering.  You should begin to sense a darkness and possibly light and sound patterns.  Relax into all of this.

Step 4: The vibration state.

This is usually a state of weightless disorientation. You’ll feel a vibration type feeling come over your body. Relax into this sensation and enhance it. Wait for this to stop or subside substantially.

Step 5: Attempt limb separation.

Once the vibration stage stops or significantly subsides,  imagine your arm “extending” .  Imagine reaching out to touch something with your arm.  You’ll know if you were able to.  If so move on to step six.

Step 6:  Attempt full separation.

Once partial separation has occurred, attempt to fully separate by imagine your body from the perspective of a third person outside of yourself.  Another separation technique to try at this stage is to imagine yourself a few feet above your body looking down at it. Really “sense” your body below you.

At this point depending upon your understanding and mastery, you will either  find yourself “out of your body” or you’ll “wake up” in your normal state right away or up to several hours later.

There is MUCH more to it...
